Manpower Partners with Dress for Success – Going Places Network

March 27, 2014

Manpower is proud to partner with Dress for Success and the Going Places Network!

Founded in New York City in 1997, Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization offering services designed to help their clients find jobs and remain employed.  Their mission is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

The Going Places Network by Walmart helps unemployed and under-employed Dress for Success clients gain professional skills, accelerate their job search and build confidence through weekly training sessions, one-on-one career coaching and networking in a supportive environment.  This program was first piloted in New York City in 2009 in response to the challenging economic climate and implemented last year by several other affiliates.

Manpower’s recent involvement included participating in a workshop on resumes and cover letters.  We also have two more workshops scheduled in the coming weeks on mock interviews and a career panel.

The workshops are held at the Michigan Works office located at 304 Harriet Street in Ypsilanti.  The next six-week cohort begins Monday, May 5, 2014.  Women interested in attending the workshops must attend the whole series.  To register and reserve your spot, call 734-712-0517 or email goingplacesnetwork@comcast.net.
