Michigan Still Among Strongest Employment Outlooks for Q3

June 9, 2015

The Manpower Employment Outlook Survey was released today by ManpowerGroup, revealing U.S. employers’ hiring intentions are among the strongest globally for the third quarter of 2015. Taking into account seasonal variations, the Net Employment Outlook is +16%, which is on par with Q2 2015 and up from Q3 2014 when the Outlook was +14%.

Among U.S. employers surveyed, 24% expect to add to their workforces, 4% expect a decline in their payrolls , 70% anticipate making no change to staff levels, and the remaining 2% are undecided about their Q3 2015 hiring plans. Among the 50 states, employers in North Dakota, Michigan, Virginia, and Iowa indicate the strongest Net Employment Outlooks, while Alaska, Illinois, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Arizona project the weakest outlooks. Furthermore, employers have a positive outlook in 12 of 13 industry sectors included in the survey, with Leisure & Hospitality, Wholesale & Retail Trade, Transportation & Utilities, and Professional & Business Services employers reporting the strongest hiring intentions.

The U.S. Manpower Employment Outlook Survey is one of the most trusted surveys of employment activity in the world. Every quarter, more than 11,000 U.S. hiring managers are asked about their hiring plans for the next three months. This helps identify the strongest and weakest metropolitan areas, states, and industries for hiring and pursuing jobs.
